About Us
We are an environmental startup based in Cairo Egypt
EGC is the first company of its kind in the Middle East and Africa. So far we have collected and up-cycled more than 5 tonnes equivalent to 4.4 million cigarettes! EGCs efforts have reduced 2.5 tonnes of carbon emission in Egypt so far. Our goal is to create a greener and cleaner Egypt with greener and cleaner innovation.
Our Origins
EGC was founded in 2021 during the corona pandemic. With the effects of climate change becoming more apparent, and the waste landfills overflowing with garbage, our Founder decided to do something. Their first mission was to develop innovative techniques to recycle the un-recyclable starting with cigarette butts. Through deeply studying the issue and conducting proper research, we were able to design a chemical-mechanical, eco-friendly process to turn used cigarette butts into clean foam fibers which is used to produce and manufacture numerous products. Our ultimate goal is to turn Egypt into a Zero Waste, sustainable society with a brighter and greener future.
Our Team
EGC takes the very first step by targeting the most littered item in the world, cigarettes. For if we define our will, then through Green Innovation we can aspire to rebuild the world in a greener and healthier way, and through teamwork and partnership, everything is possible.

Our first project
CigaCycle
As our first project, we chose to target the most littered item in the world, cigarette butts! We worked extremely hard to develop our own Chemical-Mechanical process that turns toxic used cigarettes into clean usable material. Our process is entirely based on scientific methods and even backed up by academic papers!
